To Brighten Your Day..........

I was getting Kendall ready for bed when she sneezed. I imitated her sneezing and got some good laughs out of her. Hope this brings a smile to your face and brightens your day!

Mommy Lunch Dates

I'm so thankful to have a group of girlfriends that I can get together with and swap stories and advice. Some of the stuff we talk about could so be one of the episodes of In the Motherhood! We have so much fun together and hope our kiddos will too since they will be spending a lot of time together whether they like it or not. So starting this past August through March with the exception of Sept. and Dec. we've had a baby a month and 2(twins) in March! We try and get together at least once a week for lunch, let the kids "play" together and possible some retail therapy =)

We Did It!!!!!!!!!!

****Update**** Kendall has continued to sleep in her crib every night since that first time this past week!!!! I think it's now safe to say this is where she will be sleeping at night from here on out. We haven't even had a crying episode yet! This seems too good to be true. Sometimes she even wakes up and talks to herself for a bit then goes right back to sleep. Hooray!!!!!!

Yesterday evening after feeding Kendall her last bottle before putting her down for the night I had the great idea of trying to put Kendall in her crib to sleep. This idea was so spur of the moment that I didn't even have her monitor in place. I was just kind accepting the fact that she wasn't ready to leave her swing yet. Well she slept for about 30 minutes before waking up and "talking" for about 10 minutes then going straight back to sleep. I had Rob call me when he was on his way home so I could take Maddie and Sable outside to greet him so they wouldn't bark and wake her up. Then Rob help me set up the baby monitor and we hoped she would continue sleeping. Next came 2 very unusual things for Rob and I; we were able to have the t.v. on while laying in bed before going to sleep and we left our bedroom door not only unlocked, but also open (huge deal for me because I always lock my bedroom door at night and will recheck to make sure it's locked almost obsessive compulsively). It has probably been over 10 years since I've slept with my bedroom door open, it was very weird for me to say the least. She slept til 1:30 a.m. then started whimpering. I fed her a bottle and laid her right back down in her crib, but thinking to myself that she definitely wasn't going back to sleep. To my surprise she did in fact go right back to sleep until 7 a.m! I am thrilled that we finally got her to sleep in her crib and the best part was that there was no crying involved. Now I can take down the pack and play in our bedroom and move the rocking chair out. It will start to look like our bedroom again and not a nursery =)

Good things come in 3's

Kendall is 3 months old and has brought us sooooo much joy these past 3 months! So these are her 3 big milestones reached at and around her 3 month birthday:
1. Discovered her hands, loves to stare at them and it makes her eyes cross. Also, if I get close enough to her face she loves to touch my face.

2. She found her voice! You will have a hard time convincing me that there is any noise sweeter than her voice. I believe she has been given the gift of gab like her mother (who is reminded by her father that I don't have to get my 2,000 words in every day). In this picture to the left she is talking up a storm!

3. Last, but not least, this one happened more by accident I believe.....she rolled over from her tummy to her back. The first time was Tax Day and it has happened a couple more times since then. And yesterday when I had her on her tummy she pulled her knees underneath her and had her hiny in the air. Please, no crawling yet!

I'm not sure how much my sweet girl weighs since we don't have a 3 month checkup. Next one will be at 4 months. I can tell you that she is mostly wearing 3-6 months and is in a sz. 2 diaper. She continues to smile more and more and has us smiling more and more as a result. One time around her and you will notice what a happy, content baby she is. We are blessed!!!!!!!!

Hoppy Easter!

I LOVE this picture of Kendall and the Easter bunnies! We discovered this setup at NorthPark mall and decided to take her pictures here instead of with the creepy Adult costume bunny that you normally see in malls. Yuck! I wouldn't want to sit on his lap and can't imagine Kendall would either. Taking this picture was not an easy task between getting Kendall to smile, look at the camera, and keeping the bunnies in place. They kept hopping off her back to go nibble on the flowers in the background. Wish you could have seen the picture before this one where she is looking out of the corner of her eye, trying to figure out what is on her back!

And here is Kendall on her first Easter in her Sunday best. She doesn't seem too interested in her Easter basket yet, but she will someday. However, she has really enjoyed listening to me reading her books. No, she doesn't have teeth yet, the candy is for her parents =)

Tidbits

I haven't blogged in awhile, but to say nothing has been going on would not be true. So here are just a few tidbits. I think her hat says it all!!!
My friend and her daughter came over to visit. They haven't seen us in about a month and we normally hang out at least twice a week. Her 3 year old daughter ( who still refers to me as pregnant Ashley, because we have another friend named Ashley as well), saw Kendall and immediately asked me, "You still have her?" I replied yep! She said, "Oh, and then you give her back". I laughed and said, "Nope, I get to keep her forever and ever"!

The same little girl last week told her parents she was feeding her pony. No biggie. Till they looked up and realized she had the strap on her shirt down and she was "breastfeeding" her baby. They asked her where she learned that from. You guessed it........from me! She replied, "This is how baby Kendall eats." Oh, from the mouths of babes! As she was throwing a temper tantrum today at the mall, I wondered out loud what kind of personality, attitude Kendall will be packing when she can talk. Lord help me if it's anything like mine was. I wish my Mom was here so I could thank her for letting me live. She did always tell me that I would get paid back one day!
So my sweet little Kendall is growing by leaps and bounds. She is wearing mostly 3-6 months clothes, but most of them aren't long enough. As you will notice in this picture, the outfit should come to her ankles, but falls short of her knees! My friend who passed this outfit down from her daughter couldn't stop laughing and confirmed that this is not how the outfit is supposed to fit.

Oh, BIG news. For those of you that have been wondering about her sleeping patterns......

She slept for 10 hours last night!!!! I actually woke her up because I thought something was wrong. Nope, she woke up with her big smile she gives me every morning. It's priceless! She definitely recognizes her mama now, no doubt about that. Oh yes, the sleeping thing. So she's been sleeping the last 3 nights in her swing, but we don't turn it on. I figure this is the first step to the transition to her crib. Baby steps.

Last, but not least..........check out her long monkey toes! They were curled up like this while she was sleeping. I curl my toes up just like this too, funny!
