The Numbers Don't Lie

Kendall went to the Dr. today for her 6 month check-up.

She weighed in at 18 lbs. 11 oz. - 92nd % for weight . And is 27 1/2 in. long - 96% for height. Our Dr. kindly stated it doesn't look like my height is going to slow her down.

Now I know my baby girl has some rolls here and there, but I really don't think she's a chunky baby. In all reality she's more lean than Rob or I were at her age. So.........we were at the mall the other day when a lady (complete stranger) walks up to us making gaga faces at Kendall. Then she opened her mouth and said, "She hasn't missed any meals". Really???? Is that really appropriate to say to someone you don't know? Or even someone you do know for that matter. I wouldn't exactly classify this one as a compliment. It's ok, I covered Kendall's ears!

And here's one that Kendall will one day hate me for. I think it has wedding slide show written all over it!

Aww, if only dimpled cheeks were cute on adults. Don't worry dear reader I won't post any pics of my cheeks!!!! As you can probably tell from my double chin it's not pretty.

Boppy Confusion

Apparently Maddie mistook the boppy as her bed. As you can see, it's just her size and perfect for curling up to take a nap. Good thing Kendall and her are buds, so Kendall didn't mind! And I leave you with this picture in hopes it brings a smile to your face as it did mine. Rob just got finished giving Kendall a bath and is getting her ready for bed as I was writing this.

That's a wrap!

Red, White and Boom

Rob had to work til 6 on the 4th (someone's got to bring home the bacon), so we spent the day with Ashley. We had lunch at a Mexican restaurant. Something about that didn't seem very traditional. You don't eat bar-b-que on Cinco de Mayo.
With a little quick thinking, I decided we would be patriotic by studying dead presidents. Shopping!
July in Texas is a scorcher. At 104 degrees, we were hot and sweaty and needed to cool off a bit inside until Dad came home. Check out the crazy hair.
When Rob got home they took a dip in the pool, along with Maddie and Sable. Then it was time to head out to go watch fireworks.
The first firework went off. There were no tears or lip sticking out, just couldn't quite figure out what was going on.
What a wonderful 4th. We feel so blessed to have Kendall and to live in such a wonderful country where freedom doesn't come free. Rob even told me he still sees fireworks when we kiss! Time to head home, it's wayyyyyy past someone's bed time.

Favorite Summer Reads

Yesterday Kendall decided to catch up on some of her summer reading.
She looks so grown up; sitting up with help from her boppy and holding the book by herself! We were reading Eric Carle's - Opposites.Notice Maddie in the background listening to Kendall reading!

Note to Reader: Books also make good teething toys.

Her favorite book at the moment is Chicka Chicka ABC by Bill Martin Jr. (especially they way her mom reads it). This book comes highly recommended from Kendall. The End!

Diva In Training

Kendall went with me for the first time to get my nails done. While I enjoyed a pedicure she enjoyed a bottle! I got my nails painted Love At First Sight by OPI, kind of fitting for her first trip to the nail salon! She even got some kisses from the nail tech, weird, but who can resist her sweet little face? So at what age can I take her for her first mani/pedi?

Father's Day Festivities

I had a wonderful day planned that went something like this: church, brunch, come home and swim, nap and hang out

BUT

Rob's friend called and asked if we would like to go to the lake with them. Of course Rob wanted to! I was a little leery about taking Kendall and the 12 people that would be on the boat including us. However, I was delightfully surprised and we had smooth sailing. Here is Rob and Kendall on the little "island" we anchored up near.

The water and sun wore her out!
We enjoyed a nice lunch at a restaurant on the lake.

Kendall played with her shipmates.
Then we headed back home.
Kendall and I got Rob new patio chairs that lay completely back for some relaxation, a new patio table (the glass blew out of our last one and shattered) and plaster imprints of Kendall's feet and hands. I think we all had a wonderful first Father's Day!

5 Month Pics

Here it is at last. I had 3 canceled appointments before finally being able to get them taken. I almost canceled the last appt. too because I arrived at the mall, pouring rain, only to discover Rob had taken the stroller out of my car and I would have to carry Kendall. And we couldn't shop while waiting for them to get our pictures ready. We were there for 2 hours! I chose one other pose, but had it framed so you will have to come visit us to see it.

Daycation to ATX

Rob informed me Wednesday afternoon we would be taking a day trip to Austin Thursday morning to go pick up a jet ski he was purchasing. We would be traveling with our good friend Tony and his girls (Tony was also purchasing a jet ski). Our trip started at 7:30 am!

Here is Kendall trying out the different motor sport vehicles so she can decide which one she would like her to Dad to buy her.
Playing with Dori Anna and MaKenzie while Dad signs paperwork. The girls adore her and vice versa.

We ate lunch at Trudy's then headed back towards McKinney. But made a pit stop at Baylor (Tony's old stomping ground), so he could show his girls where he went to school. We saw the school mascot, Lady the Bear. Kendall was very skeptical of the bear at first and wouldn't take her eye off the bear.

Then I guess she decided it was just a big furry animal like her puppy dogs. She couldn't stop laughing, it was so much fun for us. And I've decided it's definitely time to take her to the zoo!

Tony and his girls made a quick trip in the gift shop for some memorabilia while the Laymons waited in the car. You can bet your bottom dollar Tony got a Baylor shirt for Kendall though just to torment Rob. Notice she's not smiling in this pic!
Our last stop along the way was the West Czech Bakery, yummy! You must stop there if you never have before. Home again, home again.
