Traveling Circus

We loaded up our Camry with Kendall, Maddie, Sable and what felt like everything but the kitchen sink Saturday and headed to San Antonio. Rob's grandparents were in town from Illinois and were anxious to meet their 9th great grandchild. They just celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary last week!
We spent Sunday at Rob's parents house eating, catching up and taking lots of pictures. We were lucky enough to capture some 4 generation pictures. Kendall will appreciate those some day. This was also the first time Rob's sister, Kris, met Kendall. Rob's mom couldn't believe how much Kendall has changed in the 3 weeks since she saw her last.
From there we headed over to my friend Brooke's house for an "open house" for all of my SA friends to come meet Kendall. Kendall received many adorable gifts and Brooke had laid tasty treats out for everyone. We really appreciated the hospitality. Unfortunately I was so excited to see everyone and chat that I forgot to take pictures, but Rob captured one with my friend Silvia. We've been friends since 2nd grade. She is 3 1/2 months pregnant and has a 4 year old son.
Last stop on the agenda for Sunday was dinner with our good friends Noah and Liz and their precious son Andres. It just so happened to be Noah's birthday also! Noah and Rob have worked together at the dealership in SA and McKinney. The 4 of us (pre-kids) lived together in an apartment in McKinney when we first moved to McKinney. They are both near and dear to us. They made wonderful fajitas, rice and beans for dinner, yum! Oh how we miss "real" Mexican food since we can't find it in Dallas. We crashed for the night at my Dad and Elizabeth's house.
There was no slowing down the next day either. We had lunch with my friend Kesha at Rob's favorite hole in the wall Mexican restaurant that he use to frequent about 3-4 times a week when we lived in SA. Then we went shopping at Kesha's friend, Sheila's, baby re-sale store, Green Baby. Found some cute buys! Next I had a Dr. appt .for my thyroid; awaiting results, but everything appears to be good. Then back to my Dad's house for another "open house" for Kendall. Our long time family friends, the Nakayamas were able to stop in and meet Kendall. Talk about full circle; their oldest daughter, Luci, whom we use to babysit pretty much since she was born is a senior in high school and could now babysit my baby! It was very neat for me to see Luci holding Kendall, almost brought tears to my eyes.It was so nice to see all of our family and San Antonio friends. One thing for sure, we would have a lot more babysitters in SA. However, I'm glad for the fact that we can't drop her off all the time at the grandparents house because we can't get this time back. And it makes us enjoy the "free adult time" even more when we do get it. The traveling circus arrived safely back in McKinney Tuesday am. And the best news is that Kendall is a wonderful traveler. Good to know since my Dad and I will be making a 5 hour trip to Kansas to see my Grandmother in 2 weeks.
